Tiko Tales

For Arab families with kids aged 3 to 8

Your child is the hero of tonight's story. Told the way your family talks.

Give us their first name and two things they love. We send back a picture book starring them, in Fusha for school and in your Egyptian, Levantine or Gulf Arabic for home, with a warm voice that reads it aloud.

فِي لَيْلَةٍ هَادِئَةٍ، نَظَرَتْ لَيْلَى إِلَى السَّمَاءِ. قَالَتْ لِقِطَّتِهَا: «يَا مِشْمِشُ، هَيَّا نَطِيرُ إِلَى القَمَرِ!»

Same page, two ways. Tap to switch.

They understand Arabic. They answer in English.

  • Bedtime turns into YouTube, and you know it isn't helping. A story where they're the hero beats the scroll.
  • Most Arabic kids' books are stiff Fusha they tune out, or cartoons in a dialect that isn't yours.
  • Teta calls, and the chat dies after two sentences.
  • You want Arabic at bedtime, but you're tired, and translating on the fly every night just doesn't happen.

Kids don't pick up a language from lessons. They pick it up from stories they love, about people they know. Starting with themselves.

Questions parents ask

Which dialects do you have?

Egyptian, Levantine (Shami) and Gulf (Khaleeji). If yours isn't here, tell us. We're adding more.

Fusha or dialect, which is better?

Both. Fusha with tashkeel builds reading for school. Your dialect keeps them talking with family. You get both, with the same pictures.

What ages is it for?

3 to 8. Sentence length and story length match your child's age.

What happens in the stories?

Every story is a new Tiko Tale. Tiko is a little turtle who carries his home on his back. At bedtime he knocks three times on his shell, and it opens into a world made of your child's favourite things. They always bring back one small treasure from your family's country: koshari from Egypt, mint tea from Morocco, the cedars of Lebanon. Never the same one twice.

My kid's English is stronger. Can I get English?

Yes. English stories come with the after-story questions in your dialect, so Arabic still shows up.

What do you do with my child's details?

We use their first name, age and interests only to make their stories. No photos, no surnames, never sold.

Is there a limit?

4 new stories a month per child, each with one free redo. Re-reading and listening are unlimited. Extra stories are $1.99.

Can I cancel?

Anytime. Send one message and it's done.

One bedtime from now, they could hear themselves in a story.
